Baking With Olive Oil
May 13, 2010
The San Gennaro Festival, which celebrates the feast of the patron saint of Naples, held its 82nd annual celebration in New York from September 10-20th. The Festival takes place in Little Italy, attracting crowds exceeding one million during the eleven day celebration. The festival boasts over 300 street vendors and more than thirty-five of Little Italys famous restaurants offering a variety of Italian specialty foods.
Bertolli Olive Oil, the worlds leading brand of olive oil, participated in the festival with a booth on Mulberry Street. Bertolli offered samples of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil for tasting and samples of brownies made with Bertolli Light to demonstrate the use of olive oil beyond the sauté pan. Through participation in the festival, Bertolli wished to educate people on the health benefits and different styles of cooking with olive oil. A highlight of the festivities included Bertollis roving reporter, a lively Italian American who simply wanted to hear what festival patrons had to say about olive oil.
From the food to the fanfare, Bertolli captured the spirit of the festival and Americas love for Italian culture.
